As individuals in this rapidly changing society, we are continually making choices that define ourselves and our life trajectories, even if we are not aware of it. I work with individuals from all walks of life to understand the power of their choices and to address adversity and relationship challenges. I adapt my approach to suit the needs of each and every client I work with.
My therapeutic approach has evolved and expanded over many years through education, clinical practice and ongoing professional development in many areas as well as my own life and personal learning. I have helped many people not only address the challenges of the day but to also strengthen their ability to remain true to their values and personal integrity as they go forward in their lives. This has helped them to re-align with their sense of meaning and purpose as well as in day to day decision making and relationships.
More recently I have incorporated understandings of the brain and neurophysiology to understand and address overwhelm, anxiety and trauma. It can sometimes feel like history is repeating itself when we find ourselves stuck in well-established reactions or patterns in our individual lives and our relationships. “How did I end up here again?”
I find the concept of ‘Brain Hygiene’ to be especially useful as well as other methods that draw from a rich understanding of how the brain functions such as Interpersonal Neurobiology and Neurophysiology. Understanding how your system responds to threat, and how to interpret these reactions helps you to master them and to move forward. In my practice I use a number of techniques to effectively restore balance and equanimity.
